Why do we need a diet regimen after Bariatric surgery?

Obese patients need a diet regimen after Bariatric surgery, especially in the first months after the operation, to prepare the stomach for its new size and change.
From transparent fluids in the first week to regular solid foods, you are gradually eating.
It is worth mentioning that Bariatric surgeries are not followed by periods of food deprivation, but merely the organization of food and preparation for change and a healthy lifestyle.

*Dr. Osama Khalil recommends the need for continuous follow-up after the operation with your doctor, As his medical staff must include clinical nutritionist who provides a tailored diet regimen after the operation for every case.

Week 1:

It includes the first week after the operation in which the patient must take light translucent fluids such as:
1- Fruit juices (without sugar).
2- Anise and mint.
3- Water in sufficient quantities not less than two liters per day because it is of great importance in healing wounds, avoiding sagging and keeping freshness of the skin after the operation.
4- Soup without fat and without spices.

It is forbidden to eat these foods:
1- Acidic drinks such as orange juice and lemon.
2- Caffeine drinks.
3- Soft drinks.

Week 2:

It includes light, non-transparent liquids such as:
1- A banana drink with milk, well made in a blender.
2- Diluted soups.
3- Yogurt.
4- Fruit juices.
5- Ice cream or sugar-coated pudding.

It is forbidden at this stage:
1- Sugars.
2- Solid foods.
3- High fat foods.

Week 3 and 4:

Includes easy-to-swallow foods such as:
1- Orzo soup.
2- Yogurt.
3- Potato puree.
4- Cheese cottage.

Week 5:

Eat well-mashed foods such as:
1- Purée potatoes.
2- The chicken and meat are well mashed.
3- Finely mashed fish pieces.
4- 2 tablespoons well mashed beans.

Week 6:

It allows regular foods to be eaten, but with these instructions:
1- It is forbidden to drink soft drinks.
2- It is forbidden to eat fatty foods that are high in fat.
3- Reduce sugars.
4- Chew well several times before swallowing.
5- Avoid eating too much more than the stage of satiety.
6- Avoid eating and drinking in the same time.
